Welcome to Class 3’s Page!
Mr Gooderham teaches Class 3 which is made up of Year 3 and Year 4 pupils. He is supported by Mrs Steele (LSA).
Class 3 is an active and vibrant learning environment where children are able to build their confidence towards becoming independent learners. Everyone is encouraged to work cooperatively and to help themselves and others to do their best.
A lot of the work is based around a Science, History or Geography Topic, for example Roman Britain and Forces and Magnets. This also links a lot of the Art, Design Technology and Writing work planned for the class.
Reading continues to be very important in Class 3. It is hoped that children will read and share their reading books and library books with you at home. In the classroom we read from a wealth of different reading materials, including shared reading books, Bug Club on Active Learn and Topic related comprehension texts. We always have a wide range of topic-linked resource books available for the children to use when researching information.
Homework is usually set on a weekly basis and relates directly to the Spelling and Maths themes being learned in the classroom. Much of the Maths work is allocated to the children's work spaces on Active Learn. For spelling we have a phonic approach and the spellings that children are asked to learn reflect this. In addition, they will be asked to learn some spellings from the statutory spelling list for Years 3 and 4.
We like to work outside as much as possible – for orienteering work, to develop map skills, to consolidate maths skills in an active way. You can see what the children are up to on Class Dojo.
